What makes The Arts Pledge different?
At The Arts Pledge, we believe in more than just supporting the arts—we aim to transform the way culture grows and thrives in our communities. Our approach is intentional, evidence-based, and built around meaningful collaboration. Here’s what sets us apart:
- Locally shaped, nationally connected
- Focused on long-term cultural change
- Evidence-informed, practice-led
- Collaborative by design

Why The Arts Pledge?
Arts and cultural learning are a right, not a privilege. We work with schools, communities, trusts, and cultural partners to embed creative, sustainable, high-quality arts education that inspires learning, strengthens identity and wellbeing, and expands opportunity for all young people.
Our purpose is to secure every child’s right to meaningful arts and cultural experiences. The Arts Pledge is a not-for-profit social enterprise dedicated to long-term positive change through collaboration, research, and sustained professional support.

Pioneer Schools
Leading the way in arts and cultural learning
Pioneer Schools contribute leadership, share practice, and help build the community, evidence, and resources that support arts and cultural learning across schools.
Pioneer Schools commit to:
- A three-year membership of the Arts Pledge community
• Sharing insights, experiences, or examples of practice that may support other schools
• Contributing, where possible, to the growing network of schools championing arts and cultural learning
Pioneer status reflects a desire to support the aims of The Arts Pledge and help build its foundations, rather than recognition for meeting a set of predefined criteria. Together, Pioneer Schools help create a collaborative network that celebrates and advances arts and cultural learning.
Pioneer Schools receive substantially reduced membership costs — three years of membership for the cost of two — in recognition of their long-term commitment.
